Major League Predictions
By Quick Sports Chat Staff
Our Standings and division winners are here: We have some interesting storylines with the AL East and the Red Sox Yankees rivalry being renewed, and we have turmoil in the NL as the Dodger eye league supremacy
For American League MVP, our pick is Bobby Witt Jr. After a historic season in which he posted over 10 WAR, Witt has solidified himself as one of the game’s most dynamic players. A true five-tool athlete, he continues to set the standard for excellence in the league. At just 24 years old, Witt’s ceiling remains sky-high, and we anticipate even greater achievements in the seasons ahead.
For AL Cy Young, we’re backing Garrett Crochet. Despite the challenges of pitching in the hitter-friendly confines of Fenway Park, we believe this will be Crochet’s breakout season with the Red Sox. At only 25, he has the talent and potential to emerge as one of the league’s premier arms. With pitching coach Andrew Bailey’s proven track record of developing talent, Crochet is poised to take a significant step forward and cement himself as a dominant force on the mound.
For National League MVP, it's hard to look past Shohei Ohtani, especially with his anticipated return to the mound this season. After securing MVP honors without throwing a single pitch, it’s difficult to imagine a scenario where Ohtani doesn’t claim the award once again. However, if he’s out of the picture, keep an eye on Juan Soto. Fresh off signing a record-breaking contract with the Mets, the 26-year-old is poised to solidify his place as a franchise legend—and potentially become the first Met to win MVP.
For NL Cy Young, the choice seems just as clear: Paul Skenes. The Pirates' ace delivered a historic rookie campaign, posting a 1.96 ERA with an 11.50 K/9, and he’s only getting better. With Pittsburgh aiming to be competitive and Skenes drawing a crowd every time he takes the mound, expect to see his name at the forefront of Cy Young discussions by season’s end.
Our postseason projections lead to a somewhat expected, yet compelling, outcome. In the American League, while no single team stands far above the rest, one franchise fits the championship mold better than the others—the Texas Rangers. As recent World Series champions, their experience and battle-tested roster give them the edge over the Boston Red Sox in the ALCS.
In the National League, two teams stand out as clear frontrunners: the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies. Despite the Phillies’ elite talent and formidable pitching staff, the sheer depth and firepower of the Dodgers will prove too overwhelming—not just for Philadelphia, but for any team standing in their way.
Ultimately, that dominance will carry over to the Fall Classic, where the Dodgers’ combination of talent, experience, and improved coaching will be the difference. We predict the Dodgers will defeat the Rangers in six games to capture the 2025 World Series title.
